9 Day Best of Botswana Tour

9 Days 8 Nights
Please enquire for Quote

A scheduled small group tour that starts in Victoria Falls and ends in Johannesburg, with three departures per month on selected Saturdays. Stand on the edge of the mighty Victoria Falls, enjoy a game drive and sunset river cruise in the Chobe National Park, marvel at the vastness of the Makgadikgadi salt pans frequented by large flocks of pink flamingos, glide through the waterways of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro, traverse the remote Central Kalahari and hear the enchanting stories and songs of the local bushmen.

Day 1: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Today we visit the spectacular Victoria Falls, also known by the local name of “Mosi-oa Tunya” (the smoke that thunders). While much of today is dedicated to viewing the mighty Zambezi River as it drops into the Batoka Gorge below, the bustling adventure town of Victoria Falls also offers a range of optional activities for those wanting a dose of adrenaline in the afternoon. For the more relaxed traveller there are craft markets to
explore and a delicious high tea is on offer at the Victoria Falls Hotel. Tonight we enjoy an optional dinner out, your guide will assist you to decide
on the many options available

Day 2: Kasane
After breakfast we travel the short distance to the Botswana border, crossing into Botswana we set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River.

Our afternoon is set aside for exploring the Chobe National Park. For those who have purchased the Activity Package we begin our exploration in 4x4 vehicles, which allows us an up close and personal experience with the many elephants that frequent the Chobe riverfront in the afternoons. The afternoon ends with a leisurely boat cruise and a meal served around the campfire.

Day 3: Nata
We leave Kasane and travel south towards Nata. Some people also call this route the “game drive route”, as you might see some wildlife while travelling through the area. Upon arrival we will be able to relax and spend some time at the lodge. If times allows we have some activities available to enjoy at sunset

Day 4: Maun
Our journey today takes us across the northern reaches of the Makgadigadi Pans, the road from Nata to Maun is lined with majestic examples of the iconic Baobab tree and we will catch glimpses of the extensive pans that stretch out to the South. As portion of our route bisects the Nxai Pan and Makgadigadi National Parks, if we are lucky we may encounter some of the wildlife that roams this vast protected area.

Day 5: Moremi Game Reserve
The Okavango Delta is a unique and unusual ecosystem which sees the annual flood waters of the Okavango River fan out into the sands of the Kalahari Basin. The seasonality of the flood waters lends the Delta its ever changing character. While water levels may fluctuate the tranquillity of this wilderness area remains constant. This morning we board our plane and take a scenic flight over the Delta to our overnight accommodation for the next two nights.

Day 6: Moremi Game Reserve
A full day is set aside to enjoy the activities on offer in the Delta, while the programme of activities is flexible to accommodate the seasonal

changes in water levels, you will have the opportunity to enjoy amongst other activities traditional makoro rides, nature walks a game drive and a boat cruise. The Okavango Delta is not only a natural wonder, but represents one of the last great wilderness areas in the world today.

Day 7: Ghanzi
Leaving the Delta behind us this morning we make our way to our overnight stop in the Ghanzi district in the central Kalahari. Upon arrival you will experience the very unique dancing and storytelling activity

Day 8: Kang
We will leave the Central Kalahari and the San community. The nomadic San are hunter-gatherers that have passed down a rich knowledge of the plants and animals that play such an important part in their lifestyle. This afternoon we travel south on the Trans-Kalahari highway to our overnight stop in the small town of Kang, the gateway to the Kalahari.

Day 9: End of Itinerary
A long day awaits us as we continue our journey south to Johannesburg and South Africa. Leaving the Kalahari behind we cross the North-
West Province, arriving at Belvedere Estate in the late afternoon.
